Carl Loeppky

November 14, 1937 – November 29, 2023

Carl Loeppky was born on November 14, 1937 to Isaac and Susanna (Wall) Loeppky on a farm near Osler, SK, the 3rd of 6 children.

Carl finished his earthly journey on November 29th, 2023 at 12:45pm with Myrtle and daughter-in-law Sharon by his side and immediately entered his eternal home with angels rejoicing, not because of who he was, but whose (Jesus) he was.

Growing up on the farm, in his late teens, Carl made a decision that impacted his life forever. With the influence of Christian friends, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and personal Savior at home in the barn and was baptized on his confession of faith at the age of 16.

He continued to work on the family farm in Neuhorst until he started his life long career at the Co-op Creamery (Dairy Producers), initially in the ice cream department. Shortly after starting, Carl felt called to go to Bible School at Briercrest Bible Institute for 1 year.

Returning to Saskatoon, he went back to work at the Creamery. Active in the local church he took on the position of choir director at EMMC church. Realizing he needed a replacement pianist, he requested prayer from his choir members. God answered his prayers and provided more than just an accomplished pianist, He provided his life partner, Myrtle Peters. This was not their first meeting; they had previously met at a church gathering in their teens.

After a year long courtship, they married October 27, 1961 at the Langham EMB church.

Expecting their first child in January, they enrolled at Millar Memorial Bible Institute in September 1962. An x-ray revealed not one baby but 3. Carl, unable to concentrate on his studies, approached Mr. Peeler, who also noticed he wasn’t concentrating. It was after that conversation that they “loaded up their truck and moved to” Saskatoon. Resuming what would be his 40+ year career at the Creamery where he took on various jobs.

Carl didn’t just warm the pew at Westmount Evangelical Church, but was instrumental as he directed the choir, sang solos, was in music groups, taught youth Sunday school, and helped with door to door evangelism.

As a couple they participated in several mission trips to Mali, Mexico, and Belize. Entertaining to all ages, Carl did imitations, sound effects, animal noise, jokes, and stories. Anybody remember “Fritz and me were chums”?

God then allowed another challenge to befall them, as Myrtle started having brain seizures. Ultimately, this led them to make Spruce Manor in Dalmeny their home, Carl now in the caregiver role. He spent a lot of free time sharing Jesus with the residents. His love of Scripture is evident by the hand written cards of Scripture that you found on your seats. Take them with you and use them to share Jesus with others.

Carl leaves to mourn, his loving wife of 62 years, Myrtle, their 4 children; Gail (Jeremy) Ewert, Grant (Anita) Loeppky, Garth (Sharon) Loeppky, Ivan Loeppky. Grandchildren; Melissa (Zach), Candace, Spencer (Kayla), Alex (Shelby), Ben (Kelsey), Veronica, Victoria. Great-grandchildren; Colin, Colton, Rey, Mateo, Brennan, Ava, Thalia, Quaid, Graham, Deacon, Clay, Ella, Sheppard.

Carl is predeceased by, his parents Isaac and Susanna Loeppky, infant brother Abe, and 6 brother-in-laws.

It was important to him that people know that Jesus is the answer to life and that you can know for certain that you are going to Heaven. If you would like to know more, talk to Pastor Dale or anyone around you, we would be thrilled to point you to Jesus.

We would like to thank Spruce Manor staff for your care.

In the loss of a dear Husband, Father, Grandfather
    That final earthly parting
Is hard no matter what age
Perhaps because it is the end
    Of a relationship and
The closer we are to that person
    The harder it is
    But praise God
He does bring healing and gives comfort
In the hope of our being reunited
With our loved ones in the heavenly Kingdom
How good it is to have the precious gift
    OF MEMORIES
To which we hold unto till that day
    Remember
    God is your
    Arm that protects,
    Help that assures
    Wisdom that guides
    Love that endures
    Physician that heals

I am saddened by Carl’s passing, though I know he would not want to stay, given his destination. Please accept my condolences. I have wonderful memories of Carl and Myrtle through my parents’ involvement with EMMC activites. (My parents were Frank and Neta Thiessen.)

My deepest condolence to you the Loeppky family.
I Have so many great memories of Carl! Back In my teen years, I always wanted to stand next to Carl in the choir because I wanted to learn to sing base! When Dora and I were serving as pastor couple at Westmont, Carl was always such an encourager and inspiration to us in the ministry.
I always felt he was cheering me on as I was preaching!
He was such a blessing when he would lead congregational singing and of course, singing base in quartets etc.

His friendly smile and contagious christianity
    brought others into the church!

I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to visit both Carl and you Myrtle at Spruce Manor this summer. As usual we enjoyed grade fellowship!

I was blessed by watching the service on line!
