Lillian Priel

May 7, 1927 – July 23, 2023

Lillian Priel (Waldner) passed away on July 23, 2023 at the age of 96.

Mom was born on a farm outside of Langham to Mary and Joseph Waldner.  She had 3 sisters (Emma Hoem, Linda Storvik, Catherine Masuk) and one brother (Joey).

Mom always wanted to be a teacher from the time she was small and that’s what she did do.  She taught at Wurzburg, Queensland, Flowery Dale.

In 1956 she married John Priel, and moved to the Priel Homestead.  They had two children. In 1967 John passed away and Mom kept the farm going with cattle, after a year she sold the stock and went back into teaching. She then taught at Gideon school until it closed, and her final teaching position was in Perdue, Sk.

In 1976 Mom was diagnosed with leukemia and was given six months to live, she made sure all her plans were looked after.  She did beat the cancer and her Dr. asked her to speak on several occasions to other cancer patients to tell them there is hope.

She retired from teaching in 1985.

When Mom retired she continued her knitting and made gifts for the children for Christmas and donated it to the Salvation Army.  She loved her flowers, her yard, garden, movies, and did a bit of travelling. Another one of her joys was at Christmas time when she had the lights on the windmill light up like a huge Christmas Tree.

She was the happiest at the farm and resided there until 2021.  She went into a nursing home and had to give up most of her hobbies because of her failing eye sight.

Mom will be lovingly remembered by: Her daughter: Joanna, her children Ashley Brown (children: Jackson and Walker Hummel), Tyler Brown (children: Liam and Charlee), one son:  Arlen Priel (Donna Hanna) and daughter Chantelle.  Mom had three grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren who she adored.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lillian can be made to Emmanuel Church,  Box 498   Langham, Sk. S0K2K0.

A private Graveside Service was conducted by Ron Kleinsasser.

Arrangements entrusted to Dalmeny Funeral Home 306-254-2022.
