Jeffery Gordon Armstrong
January 17, 1963 – June 10, 2023
January 17, 1963, a cold -55 F night in Nipawin, SK. Jeffery Gordon made his grand entrance into this world the 4th child of Ian and Joyce Armstrong.
He spent his childhood on the dairy farm helping his dad, starting to drive the tractor at a very young age. Jeff spent many hours playing with his cousin Mark who lived on the adjoining farm.
Jeff also spent a fair bit of time at Waskesiu Lake at his parents’ cabin. It was here he learned how to golf.
One passion he had lasted a lifetime—the love of hockey. As a youngster he built his own net and practiced his shots on net for many, many hours. When he became a father he helped coach and took Jordan to hockey camps in Banff, Edmonton and Saskatoon. He also was an avid Blades fan.
1988 he met and married Sharon Voth. They both enjoyed travelling to warm countries, the US and Canada. Jeff did 5 mission trips to Guatemala and the Dominican Republic building homes, churches and a feeding centre. Covid and then cancer put an end to this dream. Up until his death Jeff was still trying to improve his Spanish. The Spanish speaking countries were his heart’s passion.
Jeff spent most of his working years as a roofer/shingle. It was gruelling work and hard on the body but he persevered through the heat, sore knees and back. He enjoyed arriving at the job site seeing a worn-out roof and leaving at the end of the day seeing it looking beautiful.
For a couple of years Jeff worked at Teen Challenge for a change in pace. He also took a crane operator course but—life called him back to roofing until he literally could not do it no more and was hospitalized and diagnosed with Stage IV Hodgkin’s lymphoma. That is almost 4 years ago.
Jeff loved his fur babies – the Weimaraners. Chemo and the disease had many side effects and the babies loved him through difficult times.
His ’69 Chevelle was another love. Jeff spent many hours working to restore it and then driving it feeling all that power when he kicked it down.
The cancer years were very difficult but he fought courageously to beat the disease. The pain and suffering made him rely all the more on his Lord and Saviour and his faith grew.
Jeff is survived by his wife Sharon, son Jordan, granddaughter Cattleya and Brenda our Nicaraguan daughter and her family a well as his cousin Mark, his brother Brian (Lee), sisters Barbara (Gordon Button), Terry Archambault and extended family. He was predeceased by his parents Ian and Joyce Armstrong and parents- in-law Allan and Anne Voth.

A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Westside Pentecostal Church at 3488 Fairlight Drive, Saskatoon.

I have known Jeff for many years. The last two years have being especially gratifying for me to get to know him better. I called him my modern day Job. He had the faith of Job he did believe that God would heal him until the day God took him home to be with him.I feel so privileged to be his friend

Uncle Jeff fought a wearying battle against a terrible opponent with inspiring courage and determination. We take comfort in knowing he’s no longer battling, and is now at peace. We hold with us our memories of times spent together.
