Stan Scheller

Stan Scheller

June 24, 1961 – May 17, 2023

Stan Scheller stepped into heaven at Royal University Hospital on May 17, 2023 at the age of 61 years.

Stan was born in the Toronto area to Lorne and Irene Scheller and was the oldest of three boys. As a young man of 18 years, Stan understood God’s love for him and decided to follow Him for the rest of his life. Stan chose a career as a Tool and Die Maker and excelled in it. After leaving Toronto, he also worked in Vancouver and eventually permanently moved to Saskatoon around 1990. Stan worked at Case New Holland (formerly Flexi-Coil) for almost 34 years.

A mutual friend planned for Stan and Cheryl to meet at a New Years Eve party, which she hosted in 1990. Shortly after this introduction Stan and Cheryl began dating and were married November 7, 1992.

Seven months after being married, Stan and Cheryl moved to their current home on the acreage near Dalmeny. Their four children began to arrive on this formerly quiet acreage. Life was very busy but very full! Stan loved being a dad. He was always looking for ways to make memories for his children. He built play structures, a tree house, skating rinks, and skateboard ramps. Activities like skating, riding snowmobiles and quads, boating, fishing, and family trips to B.C. and lakes in Saskatchewan were some of the things he loved to do with his kids. Stan was so looking forward to becoming a grandfather in July of this year.

Stan’s wife Cheryl and children Selena (Trent) Leland, Colton (Amy), Caleb, and Carson find comfort in knowing that this goodbye is temporary. Heaven changes everything!

Stan was predeceased by his father Lorne, and his brother Rob. Stan is survived by his mom Irene, brother Jeff (Hollis) Scheller and three nieces, sister-in-law Michelle Scheller and two nephews.

Stan will be remembered for his steady faith, and the way he demonstrated Christ’s love for others with acts of service.

Special thanks to Doctors Wardell and Zhai, and the staff of the Coronary Care Unit at RUH in Saskatoon for their gracious and compassionate care of Stan and towards us during these past days.

“Let us not love only with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” 1 John 3:18

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023, 3:00 p.m. at the Dalmeny Bible Church, 406 Wakefield Ave, Dalmeny, SK with interment to follow at Dalmeny Bible Church Cemetery.

I will always remember Stan as being kind and easy-going. Our visits to the Scheller acreage have been a highlight for me, and for my kids! The bonfires and pellet-gun target practice – we feel right at home. The last conversation I remember having with him was when he approached me at church and asked, “Do you know you sing with your eyes closed? Almost the whole time!” Ha ha! I know I’ll smile when I think of him as I continue to sing with my eyes shut. We will sure miss him. Thanks Stan and Cheryl for welcoming us into your lives. Oh how I prayed for a different outcome. I so look forward to seeing him again, and maybe I’ll sing with my eyes open then!

Our farm is about 3/4 mile away from Stan and Cheryl’s place. I watched this young couple moved into this place where they call home for starting their family. It is hard to believe how time flies, and their kids have grown into adults. Stan is a talented handy guy who helped us whenever and whatever we needed. There are countless items that have Stan’s finger prints on them at our place. We will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with Cheryl and family during this difficult time.

If I couldn’t find Mark after a Sunday service, it was likely that I could find him with Stan. I couldn’t hope for a better influence and friend for my husband than Stan, and I’m grateful that I could also call him a friend. Stan and Cheryl have always extended exceptional hospitality and generosity to us, from “stop by and I’ll give you a hand” pop-ins to hosting our wedding. We, and later our children, have always loved our visits. Thanks for always being there for us, Stan. You will always be special to us. We hope to demonstrate Christ’s love to others like you showed us.

We were blessed to get to know Stan, and the rest of the Scheller family when our daughter Amy met Colton. In the short 4 1/2 years we got to know him we quickly realized his acts of generosity towards us and our family was a big part of his faith in action. We especially appreciated him for excepting our daughter, Amy as his own when she married Colton.
He will be missed when our families get together. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Cheryl and your family.

    Dear Selena, Cheryl and family.
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Stan. He was always so welcoming and kind when I visited Selena on the acreage. From the stories, memories and words that I have heard from Selena show how wonderful of a man he was and how his faith, family and values were so important to him. The Scheller family is truly a wonderful family and our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with you in this time. I hope that your hearts are full with love and memories of him.

    With so much love,

    Dearest nephew Stan,

Your passing has left a big hole in the hearts of family and friends. I only wish that we had not lived so far apart so that I could have visited more often and spent more time with you. I will always remember you growing up and calling me “Uncle Richard”. I will cherish those memories forever.

Cheryl, please know you and your family are in our thoughts even though we can’t be there with you.

Your Uncle Richard and Aunt Lynda

I thoroughly enjoyed any conversation I had with Stan. He was quite a conversationalist, on any topic really. Always had a genuine interest in how you and the family were doing, and certainly what projects you might be working on. Stan, being a skilled tinker, and thinker, was always curious what you were up to, always giving it some thought, maybe eager to learn something new himself, but pondering what or how you were doing something, offering advice from a seemingly vast knowledge base or help in getting something accomplished. Especially when it came to cars, the amassed collection of them, what you might need to do or watch out for on them. It’s no surprise to me, Stan was right, a Mini Cooper 6 speed stick, is a really fun car to drive.

We’re going to miss bumping into Stan and having a good chat.
Sympathies to Cheryl, Selena, Colton, Caleb, Carson

I recently was just told of his passing by my friend Duane at CNH. I had the pleasure to work along side Stan, for the short period it was. We had many good conversations as tradesman, he had a wealth of information to share and never blinked upon lending a hand. Enjoyed working with him as my sense of humor gave him some good laughs, and it’s always nice to see other’s laugh.

For the short time I was privileged enough to work with him, get to know him a bit, he never ever turned his back on me when I had a question given his vast experience. He always engaged and was willing to show me. Those are the types of people that make coming to work enjoyable and worthwhile, aside for the monetary gain.

Condolences to his family members, may he rest in peace.
