Family Owned, Family Focused

Arden Ralph Sawatzky

Arden Ralph Sawatzky

March 22, 1958 – April 22, 2023

Arden was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on March 22, 1958. He lived with his parents and older sister, Donna, in the town of Dalmeny for a year before the family moved to the Krause family farm outside Dalmeny where he celebrated his first birthday and then later that year his sister Beverly joined the family and then several years later his brother Kevin completed the family.

The farm was great for Arden, lots of room to run around and always something to ride, fix or drive!  These passions remained till his dying day. Up until a couple weeks ago he was still planning on fixing cars and likely riding his motorcycle when he got out of the hospital. It’s good to have dreams!

This past year has shown a remarkable decline in Arden’s health and he needed to rely on machinery for his every breath. He fought a valiant fight but his body just couldn’t recover from all the things that were wrong. So, a month after his 65th birthday he breathed his last and went home to be with Jesus. For this, as much as we would love to have kept him with us, we are grateful the suffering is over and he is at peace. Who knows, maybe there is something to ride, fix or drive in heaven!

Arden married Charlene Dann on October 21, 2006. After living in Saskatoon for many years, Arden and Charlene decided a move to a quieter town would be just what they needed so they moved to Beechy, Saskatchewan where they were currently living. Arden found plenty of interesting things to do in this rural community including an assistant mechanic, landfill operator and local farm hand. This suited them both to a T.

As a young boy he accepted Jesus as Saviour through the ministry of the Gospel Messengers. As an adult he rededicated his life in Calgary and then declared Jesus as Saviour and was baptized at Westbank Bible Camp, Swift Current on August 11, 2017. Therefore we have this confidence in this very thing that he is now perfected with Christ Jesus.

Arden is predeceased by his parents, Konstantin Oskar Ernst and Helen (Krause) Sawatzky. Left behind to mourn and miss him so much are his wife, Charlene, daughter, Crystal (Justin) Bird, grandchildren, Cameo Ha, Kaine and Mason. Also his siblings Donna (Dennis) Nazarenko, Beverly Dawson, Kevin (Cyndee) Sawatzky as well as nephews and niece, Matthew (Sarah) Nazarenko, Kaitlyn and Trevor Sawatzky. Lots of uncles, aunts and cousins will be missing him too.

Also included are Charlene’s brothers and sisters – Ken Morin, Emett (Stephanie) Rushton, Cheryl (Blaine) Anderson, Allison McKnight, Meagan Nolan (goddaughter). Predeceased by Charlene’s mother, Marie Helen Rushton , father Alfred George Dann, brothers in law Rob Quendack, Stephan Quendack and Edmond Rushton and niece Pam Quendack.

We celebrate Arden’s life on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 2 pm at Dalmeny Community Church with Pastor Dan Stobbe ( Hillside Christian Fellowship Church, Beechy) officiating.

Many thanks to the Beechy Clinic, Outlook Hospital and especially the medical team at Royal University Hospital who took amazing care of Arden. Thanks also to Dalmeny Funeral Home, Dalmeny Community Church and Oven Scents for catering the lunch.

Interment will take place at the Dalmeny Community Church Cemetery at 11:00 a.m on Saturday, April 29, 2023 with a Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 p.m at Dalmeny Community Church.

My most sincere condolences to Charlene, Crystal, Meagan, Cameo and everyone else who was lucky enough to know and love Arden. He was a good man who always helped everyone he could. He was my Dads best friend and our famies spent many years sharing good times together. I have memories of the short time that I lived with Arden and Charlene and he would always offer me rides to work on his motorcycle. He was always trying to help someone.
I wish I could have attended the funeral, but I did watch it Live from home. It was a beautiful service and I’m sure he is smiling down at all of you today and forever ❤ Rest In Peace Arden, you will be missed by many.
