Ruth McTavish
September 22, 1929 – May 23, 2022
Our dear mom passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on May 23, 2022. Mom grew up in the Dunfermline area. She met Dad at a Saturday night dance. They married on Nov. 14, 1951 and farmed northwest of Asquith. They raised 3 children, Alex, Cameron and Peggy. Mom enjoyed square dancing, round dancing and pattern dancing. She was always at Dad’s side doing various projects together. Mom was his substitute bus driver during seeding and harvest. She was an avid sewer, upholsterer and quilter. Mom was involved in Home Makers for many years as well as the Royal Purple and IODE.
Mom and Dad moved off the farm in 1976 and built a house in Asquith. Their home was often full of grandkids after school and mom made sure they had a hearty meal before heading off to their various extra- curricular activities. In 2003 Mom and Dad decided to move to Saskatoon to the Villa Royale which they very much enjoyed. Mom was always interested in what her kids and grandkids were doing and she loved when “her people” would come to visit. Mom developed dementia and in 2017 she moved to a private care home in Saskatoon. She received excellent care there and continued to enjoy family visits.
Mom was predeceased by husband Stuart in 2013 and son Alex in 2016. Left behind are: Cameron and his children: Rachel, Myla; Dallen (Brandi) Sven, Vlad; Jessie; Peggy (Barry Rice) and their children: Haydon (Kimberly) Easton, Kinley, Trevor; Parker (Gillian) Lowell, Lochlan. Daughter-in-law Donna (Don) and sons: Paul (Claire) Carson, Ben, Joe, Nigel, Kate; Mark (Amanda) Owen, Courtney; Kelly (Jodie) Lucas, Mae; Adam (Mandy) Quinn. She also leaves behind many Geall, McCabe, Ewen and McTavish nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held at Rosseel Hall (former United Church) 385 Charles Street in Asquith, SK. at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 28, 2022. Arrangements entrusted to Dalmeny Funeral Home 306-254-2022.
