Milfred Wall
July 12, 1932 – March 19, 2022
Milfred Wall was born on July 12, 1932 to Henry and Sarah Wall. He grew up on the farm and attended school in Mennon. He loved the farm and especially the horses, King and Floss. At the age of ten, he accepted Jesus as his Savior and was baptized four years later.
He graduated from Hepburn High School and attended Bethany Bible School, where he met Katie. He was involved in sports and sang in many quartets. They were married in the Watrous, MB Church on August 4, 1954. They attended the MB Bible College in Winnipeg for a year. Katie became ill and they moved back to Saskatoon, and shortly after that, Richard was born.
The following spring, Milfred attended Teacher’s College in Saskatoon and received his Teacher’s Certificate. His first teaching position was in Dalmeny ( Grades 5 and 6) and then he transferred to the high school.
Two and a half years’ later, Dorothy was born and passed away at three days’ old. This was a very difficult time for Milfred and Katie. It was discovered that Katie had a heart condition. Jayne was born in October and shortly after the birth, Katie underwent open heart surgery. The surgery was successful and four years later, Valerie was born.
In 1964, Milfred furthered his education and graduated with degrees in Arts and Education. In the fall of 1965, Milfred accepted a teaching position at the Meadow Lake Carpenter High School. He taught History, English and Phys. Ed. As a volleyball coach, many provincial championships were won.
Milfred was involved in the community as not only a teacher and coach, but a interim pastor. He was a member of the Council of Churches (Evangelical, Lutheran, Anglican, United and Catholic) and assisted in planning crusades, Gideons (placing bibles in the schools), as well as community drama and art events. We attended a small church which consisted of a few families, and for a short time, had church in a locker plant. Church events included ball games, skits, Christmas plays and camp outings. The church grew and is now called the Northwest Community Church.
The family spent outings going to family camp (Bethel Gospel Camp) and fishing in the Meadow Lake Provincial Park.
In 1981, Milfred accepted a position of Dean of Men at Bethany Bible Institute. He taught Poetic Books and Rec. Leadership as well as coaching men’s hockey. Milfred and Katie were very active in the Hepburn Church and served as church deacon caregivers.
In 1987, Milfred retired from teaching, at which time they moved to the farm and he became a full-time farmer. One of his favorite past-times was his horses. Commet and Lightning were the team that pulled his red sleigh. Many family and friends enjoyed rides on the sleigh. Along with farming, he loved tending to the garden, picking peas, berries and apples.
In 2005, they moved to a condo in Dalmeny. Ten days after, Katie passed away during heart surgery. Within the year, Milfred went through big changes on the farm, selling his equipment and renting out his land. He continued to spend time on the farm, gardening and tending to the yard.
In 2006, he enjoyed going to Peru with a mission’s group from Forest Grove Church.
On October 6, 2007, Milfred and Lori Schmidt were married in Kitchener, Ontario. After they were married, they resided in the condo until they built their new house on Hedley in 2013. During their time together, they enjoyed a trips to Israel, Amish Country and the Maritimes. He loved Israel, especially riding the camels. They enjoyed being an active part of their church family and fellowship in their small group. Many family and friends appreciated their warm hospitality.
Due to Milfred’s decline in mobility, he moved to the Spruce Manor Special Care Home in August of 2021. He passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lori; son, Richard; daughters, Jayne Campbell and Valerie (Grant) Ratzlaff; grandchildren: Shannon, Brandy, Jessica, Brady, Jayson and Jazmin; great grandchildren: Morgen, Kira, Phoenix, Derek, Brook, Madden and Miyah; great-great grandchild, Kinsley; sisters, Lorraine Krause and Rosella Buhr (Victor). He was pre-deceased by his wife, Katie (Toews); parents, Henry and Sarah Wall; brother-in-laws, Jake Krause and Conrad Buhr; daughter, Dorothy; and daughter-in-law, Eleanor.
A viewing will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 7:00pm at Dalmeny Funeral Home, 139 3rd Street, Dalmeny. The Celebration Of Life will be held at the Dalmeny Community Church on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 12:00 p.m.

Good memories of Mr. Wall when I was in Grade 9 at Dalmeny High School
in 1963/64.
We had the pleasure of being neighbours to Milfred and Lori since 2013. It was always a joy to visit with Milfred while working in our yards, comparing and sharing landscaping ideas and hearing of Milfred’s active live and their travels and exploits. He will be very sadly missed in the neighbourhood. Our deepest condolences to all the family and Milfred’s friends.

Hi bob, thanks for your memories! Yes, time for him to rest.
Maybe there’s more work for him to do in heaven.😁
So sorry to hear of your loss but I am sure that you know that Milfred’s life was one filled with many friends and I believe he found great meaning in life. We spent a few years with Milfred and Katie in Meadow Lake when Gilbert pastored there. They were such great mentors and supporters. We missed them terribly when they left. Gilbert and Adeline Berg

Lori, So sorry to hear of your loss. We have wonderful memories: Those seven years at Bethany – serving with Milfred. He did everything with zip and zest! And the many seasons playing Hepburn Silver Hawks…always wishing I could go out on a line with Milfred as centre.. He gave a lot and lived well. To be emulated.
