Katharina Friesen

August 18, 1922 – February 19, 2022

It is with sadness but joyful hearts that Mom (Katharina Friesen) was called home to meet her Lord and Savior on February 18, 2022 in Warman Mennonite Special Care Home.

In 1943, June 13th upon Confession of her faith, she was baptized by Bishop John Loeppky in Neuanlage, SK. In 1945, October 28th she was united in marriage to Abram D. Neufeld in Neuanlage Old Colony Mennonite Church by Bishop John Loeppky.  They shared joys and sorrows for 52 years, 1 month and 26 days. This union was blessed with 8 children, 2 of which died in infancy.  She also had 2 marriages after this union who both predeceased her.

Mom grew up in Neuanlage area until she got married, where they then farmed in the Hepburn area until Dad could no longer take care of the farm. They then moved onto an acreage.  After Dad passed away, she stayed on the acreage until the fall of 2013, and then she moved to the Warman Mennonite Special Care Home.  First few years in assisted living and then moved into the care home, where she resided until her passing.

Mom had a strong Christian faith and attended church faithfully.  She enjoyed working with the ladies Aid for many years.  Her biggest desire was for her children to follow her faith.

Mom was strong willed and worked hard all her life on the farm.  She was blessed with good health and took pride in everything she did. She enjoyed gardening, yard work, and her flowers. She also had many hobbies, wood working, sewing, baking and cooking. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends.  She always had a meal ready for everyone.

She reached the age of 99 years and 6 months.  She was predeceased by her parents Bernhard & Helen Hiebert, her husband Abram Neufeld, 1 son and 1 daughter in infancy, 1 daughter-in-law, 1 granddaughter, 1 grandson, 5 brothers, 5 sisters, 6 brother-in-law’s, 4 sister-in-law’s, and 2 husbands from her previous marriages.

She leaves to mourn 3 daughters and 3 sons.  Abraham Neufeld, Ben (Betty) Neufeld, Aron (Linda) Neufeld, Helen (Henry) Wiebe, Mary (George) Penner, Sarah (Raymond) Bueckert, 32 grandchildren, 106 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren. Also leaves to mourn 1 brother and 1 sister.
