Katherine “Tena” Janzen

January 12, 1931 – January 21, 2022

Katherine (Tena) was born on January 12, 1931 in Rossefeldt to Jacob & Katherina Hiebert.  They moved to the Gruenthal area when she was quite young.  She was the second oldest of 11 children.  She married Jacob Janzen on October 15, 1950.  They had 4 children.  They lived on a farm north of Saskatoon for a while before they moved to Warman.  In 1966 they moved to Gruenfeld.  In 1984 they moved to Hague.  In 1980 mom was diagnosed with cancer.  She had 4 surgeries within 8 years.  She had radiation treatments after her last surgery.  She suffered from the effects of the treatments until her passing.

Through all her hardships, she kept her faith in God and loved her family dearly.  Dad passed away in 1992 due to a massive heart attack. In 2002 she moved to Pioneer Place in Warman.  In 2013 she moved into the assisted living at Warman Mennonite Special Care Home.  Due to declining health she had to move into long term care in June of 2019. On Friday, January 21, 2022 at 7:45 pm, Mom peacefully went to see Jesus.

She is survived by her children Mary (Ike), Helen (Brian), Harry, Zelma (John), and Laurel; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; as well as 3 siblings Elsie, Henry, Dora (Ron) and many in-laws.  The family would like to thank the staff at the Warman Mennonite Special Care Home, especially our dear sister Zelma who took extra care for Mom and stayed hours after work to call or facetime the rest of us these last years.  Mom will be dearly missed, but we rejoice in knowing that she is receiving her Heavenly reward.

Her viewing and a time of sharing will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 7:00pm at Dalmeny Funeral Home, 139 3rd Street. Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 1:00pm at Gruenthal Bergthaler Church

Arrangements entrusted to Dalmeny Funeral Home 306-254-2022.
