Larry Podhordeski
July 20, 1954 – November 24, 2021
Larry Podhordeski arrived chubby & cheerful in the home of Jim & Elaine and his ‘big’ sister Michele.
In the years that followed he was joined by two more sisters – Teresa & Kathy.
To describe the experiences and details of dad’s life would take a novel – but the greatest accomplishment he ever undertook was meeting and winning the heart of Janet Lee White one fateful day in a bus depot in Edmonton Alberta. Dad let everyone know how delighted he was to have her as his wife & best friend – and when Jesus came into dad’s life he was finally able to fully thank the Giver of his best and MOST cherished gift.
Their life & love produced three children – and another generation beyond. Dad had no enemies – all who met and interacted with him came away impacted by his unconditional positive regard for their lives, stories, interests, and families.
He never missed a chance to talk about the joy and hope of his own heart, and the God who loved him. We lost dad in a slow and painful process that deeply grieved us… but his love and sacrifice for us over the years made it a true privilege to care for him until the end – the moment when he took his last earthly breath and sang the first note of his eternal heavenly song.
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die, and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this? John 11:25-26
Thank you, Dad, for believing Jesus.
Larry was predeceased by his niece Kayleen Jennifer Sydorko, niece Amanda Lee White, granddaughter Autumn Elizabeth Lee Manz, nephew Jaeden Kweski Sydorko, brother-in-law Robert Mark White, and father James Podhordeski.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Janet, daughter Kendall (Kurt) Manz, son Kiley (Jessica) Podhordeski, and son Cody (Colleen) Podhordeski. Grandchildren: Peyton, Tenley, Griffin, Kaden, Reise, Nevada, Violet & Aubrey. His mother Elaine Podhordeski, father and mother-in-law Bruce & Beth White, and sisters Michele Sydorko, Teres (Bob) Williams, Kathy (Glenn Von Niessen) Podhordeski, brother-in-law Bruce White, sister-in-law Roberta White – and his nieces and nephews.

Larry had the MOST incredible gift. He could look you in the eye and make you feel valued, important and loved. Right from the moment you walked in the room. He genuinely wanted to know you, your past. Truly a gift bestowed by the Holy Spirit, of which he was filled to the brim. My heartfelt condolences and heartache are with Jan, the family and those closest to him.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. Ist Thessalonians 4:14. We had many wonderful times together and Larry was always an inspiration with his love of the Lord and family and encouragement to those around him. He woke up in Glory and will hear the words “well done my good and faithful servant “. Praying for you all God Bless.
Our deepest and heartfelt condolences to Jan and family.

Aunt Elaine, Jan, Kendall, Kiley, Cody and families, to all of you I send my deepest sympathies and prayers for your huge loss. I know how much you will miss Larry. The world would be a much better place if everyone had the qualities and character that he possessed. He truly “walked the talk”, and for that his just reward awaits him. Your loving cousin, Jim
Watching the live stream service brought back wonderful memories of Larry; wish we could have had more of them in the last 30 years, but we’ll catch up in glory! Much appreciation for Cody’s heartfelt eulogy on behalf of all the family. Murray’s deeply personal memories of Larry and honoring biblical insights from Romans chapter 8 reminded me of the ever-present Barn Bible that Larry kept handy for our biblical discussions admist the noisy livestock so many years ago.
Praying for the Podhordeski family. I have been spending the past week reminiscing about the long talks, hearty laughs, and sweet fellowship that took place between us. Larry had a deep impact ony life, and I’m grateful if r the opportunity to have known him! Thrilled that his faith has become sight and grieving with the family over the temporal loss of a truly wonderful saint.
Our deepest sympathy to Auntie Elaine. We watched the online service which was a testimonial to the wonderful person Larry was.
