Maureen Kelln

September 22, 1944 – October 10, 2021

It seems fitting that Margaret Maureen Kelln would leave us on a day meant for thankfulness and gratitude, this October 10, 2021. Maureen was known for sharing her warmth and laughter freely and saying thank you to all who helped her.

Maureen was born on September 22, 1941, in Winnipeg, to Earl and Georgina (nee Gibbs) Lobb. She was happiest when helping others in her community, starting as a “Candy Striper” as a teen, then Brownie leader for her daughters then expanding to the community as a member of the United Church choir and local organizations, including a term as president of the Govan Ladies’ Auxiliary, in her later years. Her spirit of volunteerism and sense of community form the cornerstone of her legacy.

The day before she passed, her daughter Tracy teased “Don’t give the nurses too much hell” to which she smartly retorted, in a hoarse voice and with a twinkle, “Why not?”. That sassy reply was typical of our spunky mother.

Maureen is predeceased by her brother, Brian Lobb; her sister, Julie Dexter; and her husband, Irvin Kelln. She is survived by a large blended family that includes 5 children, 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

If you’d like to raise a glass of something in her honour while watching “The Sound of Music” this Christmas, she would appreciate the sentiment. Condolences may be shared on the Dalmeny Funeral Home website. Donations to the https://sk.cmha.ca/Canadian Mental Health Association, Saskatchewan Division, in lieu of flowers would be appreciated.

Arrangements entrusted to Dalmeny Funeral Home 306-254-2022.

Glenda, Tracy, Tina and family. I just read about Maureen’s (and Irwin’s) passing. Sorry to hear of your loss. When I started teaching your mom worked in the school. She was so warm and helpful, and I clearly remember her smile. Such a lovely lady – as are her three daughters!!! ❤ Hard to say goodbye to those we love. Thinking of you all. Hugs. Take care.

Our condolences to Maureen’s family. I first got to know Maureen when I was best man at her first marriage back in 1964. Over the years my wife & I enjoyed visiting Maureen on our travels across Canada & getting to watch her 3 daughters grow up. It’s hard to believe how fast time goes by. She was a good friend & a wonderful person & is greatly missed. Bill & Marilyn
