Doreen Funk Seeman
December 23, 1942 – October 12, 2021
Doreen passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at her residence in Saskatoon, SK at the age 78 years.
Doreen Schultz was born in Saskatoon on Dec. 23, 1942. In her early years the Schultz family lived in a tiny farmhouse near Langham, Saskatchewan before moving to a larger house in Dalmeny. At the age of 10, with encouragement from a friend and a schoolteacher, Doreen made a personal commitment to accept Jesus into her life.
After high school graduation, Doreen attended Central Pentecostal College in Saskatoon, where she met Edward Funk. She then completed teacher’s college in Saskatoon, after which Ed and Doreen became engaged. In October 1965 Ed and Doreen were married, and they moved to the farm Ed had purchased near Fairlight, Saskatchewan.
Doreen taught school in the Fairlight area until starting a family, eventually welcoming a total of 4 kids – Leighton, Dustin, Trenton and Kriston. During this time, the Funks were actively involved at Wawota Free Methodist church, where Doreen met many great lifelong friends. After celebrating 35 years together, Ed was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He passed away January 2001.
Doreen moved to Saskatoon January 2002. During her single years, Doreen enjoyed time visiting and travelling with friends and family. She also began directing the Senior Tones choir, which she loved.
In 2009, Doreen met Glenn Seeman from Estevan, SK. In August 2010, Glenn and Doreen were married and made their home in Saskatoon. Soon they began hosting bus tours, travelling to the southern US and eastern Canada. Doreen and Glenn enjoyed these years and made many lifelong friends.
In fall 2020, Doreen was diagnosed with mullerian cancer, for which she received both chemotherapy and surgery. Doreen passed on to her heavenly home on October 12, 2021 at the age of 78. The family wishes to thank the nurses, doctors and staff of the Saskatoon Cancer Centre, Palliative Care and Home Care teams for the excellent care Doreen received during this time.
In addition to Ed, Doreen was predeceased by her parents Peter and Elizabeth Schultz. She is survived by her loving husband Glenn, children Leighton (Esther), Dustin (Teresa), Trenton (Cory), Kriston Martens (Scott) and James Seeman (Hilary), plus her 10 grandchildren, and 1 granddaughter-in-law.
During her life, Doreen touched many lives through her faith, her love for people, and her ever-present smile. She will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Memorial Service will be held at Elim Church, 419 Slimmon Road, Saskatoon, SK on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Kenosee Lake Bible Camp, Box 217 Kenosee Lake, SK S0C 2S0.

Edward and Doreen were in the Wawota church for the 3 years, my wife Shirley and I pastored there.
We may have helped them a little but they helped us in ministry maturity more than we could tell them.
