Harry Kindt

March 8, 1944 – May 4, 2021

Harry Edward Kindt was born in Borden, SK. on March 8, 1944. He passed away peacefully on May 4, 2021 at RUH.

He was predeceased by his parents Herman and Ida Kindt, brothers Herman Jr, Wally, and sister Irma.

He is survived by his loving wife Carol of 54 years, sons Shawn (Carmynn) from Edmonton AB, and Curtis (Sim) grand daughters Ciara and Tasja from Dalmeny SK, and sisters Linda Bernhardt and Elsa More, and many beloved extended family members.

The Kindt family moved to a dairy farm west of Saskatoon where Harry truly learned the meaning of hard work, and that work ethic stayed with him for the rest of his life. Instead of staying on the farm, he decided to move into Saskatoon where he trained to become an Autobody Technician and worked at this occupation for 47 years until his retirement.

In 1966 he married the love of his life, Carol Goodheart. They would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on June 18, 2021.

Harry’s name on Instagram was “Family man” and that was who he was. He was the most loving, caring, and attentive husband. He was an amazing father who worked hard to train his sons to love Jehovah and to continue to walk in his ways. When our precious granddaughters came along, he was a loving and active grandfather. They both brought so much joy into his life and he loved them dearly.

Some of the family’s most precious memories were spent at Emma Lake camping and spending time at Uncle Lorne’s cabin. Harry enjoyed golfing and every fall the family would cut firewood, which sometimes resulted in some unexpected events,(some not so good).

Harry spent a lot of time doing various projects with Shawn and Curtis. It was special times for all of them, he loved working with each of them. Shawn says, “I remember fondly how dad would drop everything to help out Curtis and myself. There would be many times he’d leave work and help me with my broken down car. He would never back away from any projects, lots of times I was thinking out loud of certain projects in our house and dad didn’t just sit there and think about it,he’d say let’s get up and do it. And he always got it done teaching me so much along the way.”

Curtis remembers visiting his dad many times at the shop, liked seeing how he had everything organized for his workspace and the good relationship he had with his workmates. Also was impressed with dad’s collection of banana and apple stickers “ask Curtis about it”. 😉

Harry loved playing cards and games. Him and Morris Zahara could eat an entire box of chocolates in one evening and all of the other goodies Pauline put out.

He was a jokester who loved to laugh and had the biggest smile. He took many opportunities to help others, especially with doing repairs for their vehicles. He loved being busy in the yard and having coffee with Carol, while enjoying the many birds he kept fed and through the years keeping a record of the ones he saw.

Above all, he loved his God Jehovah. He dedicated his life to serve him and was baptized on August 12, 1961. He served as an elder for over 45 years and did his best to upbuild and encourage those around him. Service was such a joy to him. He enjoyed looking after the Wednesday and Saturday arrangements for many years.

He was known for his early morning approach work downtown. He would be there at 6:00 every Saturday, had various ones who would accompany him, he was always happiest when him and Curtis worked together and then went to A&W for breakfast.

During this last year, through COVID, he had many fond memories of service days and chauffeuring some of the older sisters around, who he comically referred to as his girls. He was also happy when it was coffee time and would always make sure to visit with as many as he could.

Being that we have so many amazing memories of Harry we’re looking into the future to make even better memories. A time when we can all be together, growing young together and living life as Jehovah intended it be be. We all love you with all our hearts.

A Memorial Service will take place on zoom on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Katrina Funk at Dalmeny Funeral Home 306-254-2022.
