Douglas Quiring

March 10. 1953 – January 19, 2021

Douglas John Quiring was born March 10, 1953 to Walter and Frances Quiring in Waldheim, Sask. The 3rd of 4 sons. When Doug was 5 the family moved to the Dalmeny area to farm. Frances had 4 rambunctious boys. A favorite story of the boys was seeing which boy could get the most spankings. Douglas won. The family had to work hard but it was a good life. Abundant chores of milking cows, feeding chickens. Doug’s father had several teams of draft horses to chore with and that’s where Doug’s true and enduring love of horses began. He had endless patience with horses, and none with having to fix anything mechanical. But his best enduring quality was his willingness to help others.

Doug was happily married to Kathleen Quiring who he met in 1975 while working at Camp Arnes by Lake Winnipeg. They had two children together Mark Douglas and Jolene Katherine whom Doug adored with a passion and worked hard to give them a good life on the farm. He shared his love of horses and all of nature with them.

We want Douglas to be remembered for his truly kind soul and pure heart. He enriched the lives of those around him with his gentle smile, calm demeanor and a desire to listen to what others were doing, share some time with them. Doug always put his children Mark, his little Jolene Katherine and his wife Kathleen of forty four years first before him always.

We want to express our most sincere gratitude to the Palliative Care Ward of the St. Paul’s Hospital who took care of Douglas with such kindness and compassion in his last month. Thank you so much.

Arrangements entrusted to Dalmeny Funeral Home 306-254-2022.

I have fond memories of Doug. Small in stature but but big in heart. He was very strong for his size and worked extremely hard. He was a good friend. Reliable in all he did and he cared for everyone. Praying for God’s peace and blessing on the family.
