Edward “Ed” Cooper

November 14, 1946 – January 19, 2021

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Ed Cooper, age 74 of  Saskatoon. He passed suddenly and peacefully on January 19th, 2021.

Ed was born in Vancouver, BC  to George and Evelyn Cooper who he predeceased.  He grew up with his two brothers in British Columbia.  He attended Briercrest Bible College where he met his soon to be wife Diane.  His Bible studies sparked his passion for ministries and led to his career as a missionary in BC and later moving to Saskatoon in 1986 to be a chaplain with the North American Indigenous Ministries. He went on after retiring to achieve a master’s degree in counseling and continued to support those in need.  Ed was a caring and loving husband to Diane and they were about to celebrate their 50th anniversary this April.

Ed is survived by his wife, his two children, Scott Cooper and Ruth Werner, his 4 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.  He enjoyed bowling, travelling with his wife, and spending time with family.  He will be remembered for his laughter, kindness, understanding, and generosity.  He will always be known for thinking of others before himself.

Memorial donations can be made to North America Indigenous Ministries, PO Box 220, Stn A, Abbotsford, B.C. V2T 6Z6.

A come and go public viewing will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021 from 11:00-12:00pm at West Portal Church, 3134 33rd Street West, Saskatoon, SK. A Funeral by invitation only will follow at 1:00 p.m. with burial to take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Arrangements entrusted to Dalmeny Funeral Home 306-254-2022.

So sadd to hear of Ed’s passing , Diane may you find comfort in knowing that Ed is with his saviour and angels in heaven above, Ed was a fine friend but most of all a fine human being , never had ever known of Ed to have hate or anger to anyone, his passion for wanting to help people showed through his demeanour and he will truly be missed , Ed was a neighbour to our area for many years and just recently moved to a condo on the East side of town , this would have freed up his time (not doing yard work) and such , to be with Diane and meet
New friends where they now lived , RIP Ed and go rest high upon that mountain, your work on earth is done , prayers and condolences to Diane and family from Gail/ Starla/ Dallas/ Mya/ and
    Myself , God Bless 🙏🏽
