Florence Clara Kinzel
June 2, 1931 – January 7, 2021
Florence Kinzel was born June 2, in 1931 the oldest of several siblings. In 1953 Florence married Bob Kinzel, the love of her life. They shared the next 66 years together building a home, cabin, & family. They had 6 children and 10 grandchildren with many more great grandchildren. She shared great delight in each, hand-making each grandchild a new siwash (knit sweater) as they grew.
As a devoted wife she shared in Bob’s passion for hockey, watching thousands of hockey games in person or at home, travelling to hockey tournaments throughout the country and in Europe. Always enjoying her time, sharing in the passion with other wives and friends.
One of Florence’s great joys was the cabin, she and Bob built in the late 1970’s in Big Shell Lake. She made the cabin a second home for all the family, warming it with her love, dinners, jokes, late night puzzles and convincing anyone she could to go berry picking so she could make more treats for all. She loved her saskatoon berries; creating jams, pies, cookies, and liquors. On the boat Florence was the dedicated watcher for water skiers, making sure Bob was alerted of each move. For many decades she enjoyed going to the cabin, always making sure to get ample gardening, dog walks, time at the lake or around the fire with family.
Florence loved her dogs, crafting, gardening and creating treats for the family. She always loved to share her passions with others, she shared her skills, teaching ceramic lessons to friends and family. A common gift from Flo was a thoughtfully handmade ceramic, that fit perfectly into your life. From the perfect sized coffee cup, candle holder to a Christmas nativity set.
She was faithful in the things she loved, a dedicated and loving member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, serving for decades, a 20 year career at Federated Co-op, and always coffee in her pot and a spot at her table for a chat and a laugh.
Florence was a loving, supportive, and understanding woman. Her strength, humor, kindness and thoughtfulness for others will be greatly missed. She taught us all how to be strong with compassion and care for others, how to laugh and find the humor in the little moments of life. She will forever be missed and loved as she goes to check the weather one final time.
Florence is predeceased by her husband of 66 years Robert (Bob) and sons, Kurt, Trevor and Richard. Florence is survived by her children, Susan (Danny) Preston, daughter-in-law Ann Kinzel Bueckert, Chris (Joanne) Kinzel, and Audrey Kinzel. Florence leaves behind 10 grandchildren and many more great grandchildren.
The Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Arrangements entrusted to Dalmeny Funeral Home 306-254-2022.
