January 5, 1934 – November 16, 2020

It is with great sadness Jake’s family announces his passing on Nov 16, 2020, at the age of 86.  After a long battle with cancer, he spent his last several months in Palliative Care at St. Paul’s Hospital.

Jake was born and worked in the Saskatoon area. He met and married Anne Plett, the woman of his dreams who had immigrated from Germany.  He will be remembered and missed by his wife Anne of 64 years; daughter Linda (Ben), sons Harold (Marie), David (Susan); Grandchildren Michelle (Ryan), Alison (Clarke), Jaclyn (Aaron), Stephanie (Scott); Nolan (Sue), Dawna (Adrian), Chad (Lauren), Vincent (Stephanie), Clinton, Nickolas, and 18 great grandchildren.  He is also remembered by his sisters Agatha, Helena, and his brother Bill (Agnes), sister-in-law Betty, the Banman family, and many friends and relatives.

He was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Mary, siblings Pete, Mary (Nick), Isaac (Sarah), and brother-in-law Peter.

Jake worked with several construction companies throughout his life, and found his niche as a concrete finisher.  When traveling throughout the city, he would recount numerous high-rise buildings, condos, and hospitals that started out as his concrete job sites.  He was always willing to lend a helping hand and if there was concrete being poured, he was there. He also loved being challenged to a game of pool.

Special thank you to all staff and volunteers at the St Paul’s Palliative Care Unit for their compassionate care in the past months.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MCC, 600 45 Street West, Saskatoon, SK S7L 5W9 or Palliative Care Unit at St Paul’s Hospital, 1702 20th Street West, Saskatoon, SK S7M 0Z9.

Due to Covid restrictions, Funeral Service will be by invitation only on Friday November 20th at 1:00 pm.  Interment will take place at the Woodlawn Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to Dalmeny Funeral Home. 306-254-2022.
