Norman Schroeder

Norman Schroeder

1952 – 2020

Norman was born in Lanigan, SK to Margaret & Ernest Schroeder on April 7, 1952. He was baptized and joined the Nokomis Baptist Church. His elementary education began in Nokomis and he completed his high school in Lanigan.

In 1982, Norm married Jackie Bouchard and they moved to Saskatoon. After having worked on a road construction crew, he then began a career in sales for Crane Supplies where he worked for 32 years until his retirement in 2017.

While in the north, Norman became actively involved with the cadets and the Legion. Norm kept his membership for 40 years. With his wife, they enjoyed square dancing, travelling and in later years enjoyed Geocaching together. Norm spent many years in the Scouting organization, volunteering his time doing many work projects at the Scout Camp out at Pike Lake, SK.

Norman was a man of few words but when he spoke his words were taken to heart. He had a stern yet loving way in which he could get his grandchildren to pay attention and obey. He commanded authority even to the youngest of audiences. He adored his children and grandchildren and was always willing to lend a hand.

In March 2019 Norm was diagnosed with pancreatic and liver cancer. After 14 months of fighting Norm passed away peacefully on May 12, 2020.

He leaves to mourn his wife of 38 years, Jacqueline, his Children Crystal (Joe) Roberts; Angelique (Kent) & Caim Favelle; Darcy (Rykki) Alesya and Kyanna. His mother Margaret; sister Joyce (Gerald) Voth; his in-laws; 3 aunts, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Saskatoon Legion Poppy Fund, 3021 Louise Street, Saskatoon, SK, S7J 3L1.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

A private family service has already taken place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to DALMENY FUNERAL HOME 306-254-2022.
