Harold Friesen
August 17, 1936 – April 27, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather, Harold Friesen, on April 27, 2020 at the age of 83 years. Harold was born to John and Annie Friesen on August 17, 1936 at the Hepburn Hospital. He grew up on a farm just south of Hepburn. Harold married Doreen Goertzen of Hepburn on November 4, 1961. Together they had three children, Timothy, Tammy and Tracy. Dad had many jobs over the years from working at Arthur Rose Cleaners, working as an elevator agent, farming with Milton Lepp and for over 25 years at Robin Hood Multifoods in Saskatoon where he made lifelong friends. Dad always loved spending time with his horses and raising animals. We cherish his great patience with training his horses and the many butchering days with family where everyone had a job to do.
Dad’s favourite place was their cabin at Martin’s Lake. It started when mom and him moved the first house they bought as a married couple to the lake. From there it became a second home not only for them and later their family but also to the many friends who were always welcome. It was always mom and dad’s dream to one day retire there.
Dad’s family meant everything to him and he worked tirelessly without complaint to provide the best he could for them. Harold truly enjoyed his grandchildren and it never mattered what he did with them but that the time spent with them was special. From mowing lawn on the garden tractor with them to spending weeks setting up a lighted Christmas display that they could play in or going for ice cream after soccer or a rink burger after skating or hockey. He will be truly missed by everyone. His patience and ability to enjoy and be present in the moment was truly a very special gift.
Harold is survived by his children Tim (Margaret) Friesen, Tammy (Harold) Reddekopp, Tracy (Darren) Partridge, grandchildren, Colton Friesen, Megan Friesen, Andrew (Kristen) Reddekopp, Shantal (CJ) Boldt, Carter Reddekopp, Courtney Reddekopp, Kelsey (Jacob Larocque) Janzen and great grandchildren, Liam, Blake and Lincoln, sister-in-law Helen Friesen and brother-in-law Leopold Amendt.
Harold was predecased by his parents, John and Annie Friesen, brother Arnold Friesen, sister Dorothy Amendt, wife Doreen Friesen and sister-in-law Josephine Voth-Doan.
A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Carson Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan.
Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Dalmeny Funeral Home at 306-254-2022.

I went on a fishing trip with Harold, my grandpa and Don Gossen years ago to Dore Lake. Harold was a really fun guy to have along, fishing during the day, a card game and lots of laughs in the evening. He was one of the first guys to stop and talk to me when my wife passed away. He liked to visit about family and was quick to talk about his kids and grandkids. They were very important to him. He had a very big and soft heart. He willed be missed greatly by his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. My prayer is that Jesus wraps his loving arms around the family and friends.
Condolences to the family of Harold. Many hours were spent with your family at the rink years ago during hockey and figure skating. May memories ease your loss.

My condolences to Tim, Tammy And Tracy and families; your dad was a very special man. I remember all the fun we (my late husband Mike) and your mom and dad had together. Remember the skunk your mom shot in Dalmeny on our acreage? I can’t list all the times but there were many. Things changed as time went on but remembering your family never did and never will. Uncle Harold was a special person to all of us. I remember him as always being a kind, caring, generous and funny person who always spoiled me and took the time to play with me when I was little even after a long tough shift at Robin Hood mill. Some of my earliest memories have Harold in them and I treasure all of them.
In this time of sadness Marie and I pass along our prayers and best wishes for healing to all to who have suffered the loss of this special person.
