1925 – 2019

David Klassen (formerly of Aberdeen, SK) died peacefully on September 23, 2019 at Spruce Manor Special Care Home in Dalmeny, SK.  Dad was born February 9, 1925 on the family farm north of Aberdeen, the youngest of 3 children born to Johann P. Klassen and Maria Wiebe (nee Bueckert). Dad’s parents were both widowed and each of them brought their own children into the marriage so Dad’s total family consisted of his parents plus 18 children (including himself).

In 1946 he married the girl from down the road, Tina Neudorf and together they raised a family of 6 children – Doreen (Murray) Coolidge, Fred (Linda), Glenn (Evelyn), Herb (Nadine), Walter (Catherine Thompson) and Gordon.  Dad was predeceased by his parents and all of his siblings as well as his wife Tina (2000), son Gordon (1999) and infant daughter (1957). He is survived by 5 children and their spouses, as well as 17 grandchildren (14 with partners), 43 great-grandchildren (3 with partners), and 3 great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to all the staff at Spruce Manor Special Care Home for their excellent and compassionate care provided to Dad during his stay there and especially in his final days.

A viewing service will be Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Aberdeen Mennonite Church. The Funeral Service will be on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Aberdeen Community Hall.
