Erna Reimer
February 16, 1927 – July 20, 2019
It is with great sadness that the family of Erna Edna Reimer announces her sudden passing on Saturday, July 20, 2019, at the age of 92 years. She was predeceased by her parents, Rebecca and Erich Dobsky; two brothers, Herman and Oscar; grandchild Dean; and son-in-law, Bill Macfarlane. Erna will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 70 years, Arthur (Art), and her children, Karen (Dennis) Pottage, Becky Macfarlane, Garth (Sarah) Reimer, and Tim Reimer. Erna will also be fondly remembered by her nine grandchildren, James (Kendra) Pottage, Jonathan (Janine) Pottage, Daniel (Jennifer) Macfarlane, Tim (Robin) Macfarlane, Eric (Susan) Macfarlane, Melissa Reimer, Marcel Reimer, Sandon (Elaina) Reimer, Sage Reimer, and her eight great grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Selma Ratzlaff. Erna, a registered nurse, graduated from Nurse’s training in Saskatoon in 1948. During her nursing career, she nursed in Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, and Coquitlam and even tried her hand at Real Estate in B.C. She started her married life with Art in Saskatoon and lived in Moose Jaw, Esterhazy, and Coquitlam; retiring back to the old homestead near Langham until they moved into Saskatoon in 2008. Art and Erna celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2018. Erna was a good student who enjoyed competition and athletics. There was never a task that she was afraid to tackle. She assisted her husband in the building of 6 family homes, all the while working and taking care of their family. She enjoyed curling and golf and continued to golf with Art well into her later years. They also loved to travel. The family has many fond memories of their numerous summer camping trips. Art and Erna enjoyed several trips to Europe as well as a trip to South America to visit family. Once Art retired, they traveled south and spent many winters in the Palm Springs area. Erna was active in her church and her faith was an important and integral part of her life. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Saviour at an early age and looked forward to spending eternity with her Saviour. Erna enjoyed life and maintained her sense of humor even during her final years when Parkinson’s disease made life challenging. A memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Church on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emmanuel Church, Box 498, Langham, SK, S0K 2L0 or Parkinson Canada — Saskatchewan, 2103 Airport Drive, #110B Saskatoon, SK, S7L 6W2. Rest in peace greatest and funniest grandma ever😘❤️
May God bless Aunt Erna. Love to all family members
May the “ Healer of our every ill, light of each tomorrow ,
Give us peace beyond our fear, and hope beyond our sorrow .”
Dear Art, Karen, Becky, Garth and Tim: Erna is now in God’s care an better than her days on Earth allowed. May your confidence in God’s boundless provisions in Christ Jesus be your hope, comfort and encouragement. What a special heritage your parents gave to each of you. We, as family, thank God for all the memories of past days (well, most of them!). Take good care of my older brother. Prepare your souls for your turn and remind your children of the wonderful heritage God gave you through your parents. How sad circumstances disallow our presence at the service. Know that we pray for you and trust all will be comforting as God gives you strength for such a parting as death brings. Lots of love, Arnold and Frances Reimer
