The family of Polly O’Dare announces her passing at Porteous Lodge. Polly was born to Dmytro and Maria Greschuk at Elstow, SK. She got her education at North Elstow School followed by high school at City Park Collegiate Institute in Saskatoon. She trained as a telephone operator which led to a position as switchboard operator for the Unemployment Insurance Commission (now Employment Insurance). Polly’s greatest passion was horses where for some years she showed saddle horses. This later led to breeding, training, and racing Standardbreds. She spent several years in Ontario and Alberta on the racing circuit. She operated a personal care home for several years as well as worked in the restaurant business. Polly was predeceased by her parents, four brothers and one sister. She is survived by her brother Alex, sisters Dora and Mary, as well as her sister-in-law Eileen, many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews and their families. We thank the nurses and staff at Porteous Lodge for their compassionate care of Polly during her stay of nearly three years. A private family service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in Polly’s honour to the Alzheimer Society or The Salvation Army. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to the Dalmeny Funeral Home.
