It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Pearl Regehr, age 96 of Rosthern, formerly of Hepburn on Monday, October 2, 2017 at the Rosthern Mennonite Nursing Home. Pearl was born August 7, 1921 to Gerhard and Maria Fast, the third youngest of ten children. She grew up on the family farm near Hepburn. In 1942 she married Abe Regehr, also of the Hepburn area, and they moved to the Fast farm. She worked hard, alongside her husband, during times when money was scarce. However, Pearl always said these were good times with plenty to eat. She loved visitors and the farmhouse was usually bursting at the seams with extended family and friends. The large kitchen table routinely had to be set in shifts, so that no one ever left hungry. Pearl believed in sharing, so when company left, they always took with them some of her wonderful baking, or farm or garden produce. In later years Pearl also enjoyed meeting people as she worked at the Hepburn Trading Co., and in Saskatoon doing housekeeping for many families. One of these families was Steve Fortowsky, Elise Gignac and children, who became especially dear to her. In 1995, Pearl and Abe retired to Hepburn where she became active in the Golden Age Centre enjoying time spent with old friends. During these years Mom’s favorite pastime was to spend time with Dad, touring the countryside, stopping at small towns, for coffee and meeting new people. In May 2007, her husband of nearly 65 years passed away. A short time later, a broken arm led to an extended stay in hospital, this was followed by a move to Pineview Manor, Rosthern. In spite of all the difficult changes, Mom remained positive, enjoying meeting new people and welcoming visits from family and friends at her new residence. In 2015 Mom moved to the adjacent nursing home. Mom was very grateful. for the wonderful care she received in both facilities. The family would like to extend our thanks to the devoted staff for the care given to Mom and all the residents. Pearl will be remembered for her kind, generous, fun loving and outgoing personality. She loved her family deeply and was always concerned with each ones welfare. She is survived by her two sons, Lavern (Wilma), Saskatoon; Dwayne (Laura), Hepburn. Two grandchildren, Loni (Kirk) Schafer, and Barry (Michelle) Regehr. Three great-grandchildren Kirren Schafer, and Kenton and Isaiah Regehr.
