It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mom, Pauline Lillian Schmidt, who went to be with the Lord on April 21, 2017. Pauline was born in Los Angeles, California on December 3, 1928, to David and Agnes Berg. At an early age, she moved with her family to Canada where she grew up on a farm in the Waldheim area. When her mother passed away, her father remarried and Pauline was blessed with a second mother, Helen Regier. After completing high school, Pauline attended the Hepburn Bible School. With studies complete, she moved with her friends to Ontario to work in a woolen mill. After a year, she returned to Saskatchewan. On June 9, 1949, Pauline married Malven Schmidt in Waldheim, Saskatchewan. They were blessed with two children, Larry and Cathy. Pauline was a fulltime, caring homemaker who enjoyed gardening, crafts and singing. She was an avid reader and a sharp crokinole player. Throughout the years, mom never lost her sense of humour. She loved nature and appreciated the beauty of flowers in God’s creation. Although we are saddened by our loss, we also know that this separation is temporary. One day, we will see each other again. John 14:2-3. She is survived by her children, Cathy and Larry (Elaine), grandchildren Amy and Julie, siblings Kay (Al) Wiebe, Lydia (Cliff) Friesen, Lois (Roger) Hebbes and many nieces and nephews. Pauline is predeceased by her husband Malven, siblings Menno (Alice) Berg, Ray (Trudy) Berg and Harold (Edna) Berg. The Graveside Service will take place at the Waldheim Cemetery on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at 2:00 pm. Arrangements are in care of the Dalmeny Funeral Home (306-254-2022).
