The family of Mary J. Mierau (nee Siebert) is saddened by her passing on Monday, Nov, 7, 2016, at the Extendicare Preston Nursing Home, Saskatoon. Mary Jane was born to John J. and Katherina (Dick) Siebert on the family farm in the Langham district on October 10, 1922, the third of six children. She attended Ilford School and Langham High School before attending Normal School in Saskatoon. She taught in three rural schools: Riverbank and Epp Schools in the Langham area and Wheatfield near Perdue. In 1947 she was baptized in the Bethesda Mennonite Church and on July 17 of the same year married Henry J. Mierau. For the next 30 plus years they farmed in the Langham area while raising three children – Audrey, Gaylord and Delilah. Henry and Mary retired and moved to Langham in 1979, and Henry passed away on November 21, 1984. Mary remained in Langham until 2000, when she moved to Bethany Tower in Saskatoon. In January 2016 she moved into assisted living in Bethany Place and in October to Extendicare Preston. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Katherina Siebert, her husband Henry, and siblings: Ewanda Boehr, Annie Siebert, Stella Courage, Edwin Siebert (as a child), and Ruth Genest,. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family: Audrey (Ken Bechtel), Gaylord (Lois Braul), Delilah (Brian Roth); grandchildren and great grandchildren: Evan (Angela) Janzen Roth, Eric, Bryn and Carson; Kyle (Meghan) Roth, Walker; Brendan (Lindsay) Mierau, Alice; and Chantel Mierau. Viewing will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2016, 7:30 p.m. at Dalmeny Funeral Home, 139 3rd Street, Dalmeny, SK. Funeral Service will take place at Bethany Manor Fellowship Centre, 110 La Ronge Road, Saskatoon, SK on Friday November 11, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. Interment to follow at Langham Cemetery.
