We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of Kay Willems (Dyck) of Guernsey, SK on June 2, 2017 after suffering a massive stroke May 25, 2017. Kay grew up on a farm near Guernsey and was the youngest of 9 children. She loved working on the farm doing chores and it never bothered her to get dirty. She was extremely musical, beginning to sing as a small child around the family pump organ. This became a life time passion of hers, singing all through her life in numerous choirs, trios, and octets. After the passing of Kay’s first husband Lorne Schmidt who passed away suddenly after only a year of marriage, Kay attended Briercrest Bible Institute from 1959-1963. Kay met Arnold Willems a few years later at church in the choir and they were married on June 18, 1966. They became parents in 1972, with Murray being born and again in 1975 with Sharlene. These were the biggest highlights of their lives. Kay enjoyed working at SED Systems up until her retiring in the mid 90’s. In 2001 Kay became a grandma which became a passion of hers, spending as much time possible with the grandkids, watching, dance, hockey, baseball, football, soccer and track up until her passing. Kay is survived by her loving children, Murray (Carla) Willems, (Matthew and Thomas), Sharlene Tetrault, (Amanda and Michael), In-laws, Clara (Roy) Martin, Alma Penner, Irene Dyck, Rosalie Dyck, Hank Siemens, and Henry Foth and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of almost 51 years, Arnold Willems: her parents Henry J. Dyck and Marie Dyck; brothers, Herman, Henry, Elmer, and John. Sisters, Justina, Mary, Hilda, and Hertha. A time of evening viewing for family and friends will be held Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 7:00 P.M. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. Both services will take place at Forest Grove Community Church, 502 Webster Street, Saskatoon. Memorial donations can be made to Redberry Bible Camp, PO Box 25128 River Heights, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 8B7, or to Youth For Christ, 1338 Avenue B N, Saskatoon, SK S7L. Arrangements entrusted to Stefan Funk at DALMENY FUNERAL HOME 306-254-2022.
