It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mom, grandma & great grandma Joyce Mathieu. Joyce was born on March 19, 1942 in Meadow Lake SK. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family when she entered Heavens gates on November 19, 2016. Joyce had many hobbies and interests over the years most of which were crafting of some kind. From knitting, crocheting, sewing for her kids and grandkids, to making stained glass, ceramics, rug hooking etc. You name it and Joyce tried it, but nothing held a candle to the LOVE she had for her family. Joyce was so proud of her 2 sons, and 7 grandsons, but when she finally had a great granddaughter that was the icing on the cake for her. Joyce also had a great love for all animals but particularly dogs. Having had many dogs grace her life over the years. On June 24, 1961 Joyce married her lifetime love Robert Mathieu in Saskatoon. The family lived in Saskatoon until their boys were preteens at which time they moved to Dalmeny SK where Joyce was passionate watching her boys play sports but especially hockey. It was rare for her to miss a game. Once her boys were grown Joyce and Robert moved to Perdue SK where they have resided for the past 35 years and have made many close friends. Joyce was involved with the Housing Corp., Secret pal and she was a volunteer for anywhere needed in the town over the years. Joyce was predeceased by her foster parents Harold and Myrtle Burgess and grandson Ronnie. Joyce leaves to mourn husband Robert Mathieu of 55 years; sister Alma of Kelowna BC; son Mick (Wendy) and their children Mickey (Athena), Lance and Dallas; son Barry (Tracy) and their children Chris (Roxane), Mitch (Agata), Brandon (Amanda) and Tyler (Michelle) and her very precious great grandchildren, Sadie, Archer, Tristan, and Makenzee, and special friends Marilyn (Dave) who was like a daughter to Joyce. She also leaves to mourn many nieces and nephews and special friends. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the many doctors and nurses on 5B at St. Paul’s Hospital who worked so hard for Joyce.
