Just a “wee note” to announce the passing of a very proud and grateful Canadian and resident of Saskatchewan, Mr. Gordon A. Weiss. Gordon was born in Regina in 1925 and raised on a farm in the Girvin area. Both he and his brother Ross served Canada in World War II and fought to make our country a better place in the world for future generations.
After returning home from the war Gordon married his “lover doll” Mert (Porter) in 1946 in Saskatoon where they would live and raise their children, Jim and Rhonda. Gordon then began his career in the plumbing trade which would span more than 30 years and introduce the trade to many young men and family members.
Gordon was a plumber, a home builder and a friend to anyone in need. But more than that he was a wonderful husband and father to his family. He was also like a second father to his many nieces, nephews and Jim and Rhonda’s personal friends. Gordon had a special place in his heart for his daughter-in-law, Marie, and son-in-law, Dave.
His real enjoyment in life were his five grandsons whom he guided and taught to be outstanding young people with patience and love for their families. Upon retirement, Mert and Gordon found their “Summer Palace” at Beachwood Resort in Birch Bay, Washington. This would become and remains to this day a place for relaxation and reflection for the entire family. The “summer holidays” at Beachwood were a beautiful way for the family to meet and enjoy the company of Grandpa and Grandma. The “WE-ISS-INN” is always open to family and friends.
Dad’s devotion and love for Mom has always been amazing, to see them hold hands and dance at their 70th wedding anniversary last year was truly inspirational. Gordon was also a wonderful son and brother who could make you laugh and enjoy your life a little bit better!
Gordon was predeceased by his mother and father (Lucy and Adam), brothers Ross (WWII) and Norman, sisters Vera and Clara. Surviving are his beautiful wife of 70 years, Mert, son Jim (Marie), daughter Rhonda (Dave) grandsons, Bryan (Elaina), Cory, Andrew (Paije ), Mitch and Keith, sister Faye of Vancouver, BC, great grandchildren Jett, Crüe, Jaxon, Carson, Grace and Holden.
Rest in peace Dad, your beautiful soul will be with us always.
Love Mom, Jim and Marie, Rhonda and Dave.
