It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elmer James Balzer, who passed away peacefully at the age of 84 in Langham, SK. Elmer was born on August 6, 1933 to Katherine and Jacob Balzer and was the eldest of eight children. After graduating from Rosthern Junior College he pursued further education at Rosthern Mennonite Bible School and the Saskatoon Business College. He married Margaret Epp on April 1, 1967 and they spent 50 years together on his family farm near Langham. It was on that farm that they raised their three children Kevin, Trevor, and Marla. Elmer loved living in the country and farming was in his blood. His hobbies were collecting toy tractors, fixing up antique tractors, singing and reading all the non-fiction books he could get his hands on. He also enjoyed spending time with his 5 grandchildren. Elmer is survived by his wife, Margaret Balzer, his children Kevin Balzer (Les Clubley), Trevor Balzer, Marla (Nathan) Janzen, his 5 grandchildren Chevy Balzer , Alannah Balzer (Jack O’Hara), Asher Janzen, Elliot Janzen, Silas Janzen and his 4 siblings Olga, Luella, Allan and Edith. A viewing held at Langham Zoar Mennonite Church on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Langham Zoar Mennonite Church on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 1:00pm.
