Elizabeth Joan (Brown) Reimer was born November 3, 1938 to Wendall and Violet (Heritage) Brown in Toronto, Ontario. She is survived by her husband, Johnny, children Darren (Christy), Mickey Genereux and Kory (Dallas) and grandchildren Joshua, Jamie, Destiny and Danielle Reimer; Ashley and Stefan Genereux; Brendan, Mackenzie and Samuel Reimer and great-grand daughter Rylee Holmgren- Genereux. She is also survived by her sister Barb Grant and brothers Alan (Marina), Robert (Adriana) and Jack (Bunny). She was predeceased by her parents, brother Donald, sister in law Donna and grandson Dylan Reimer.
Joan grew up in Toronto and at age 14, she was lead to the Lord by her Sunday School teacher. At 19, she attended Bible School at Millar Memorial Bible Institute in Saskatchewan where she met her husband, John Reimer of Vanderhoof, BC. They were married September 30th, 1961. After living for a few years in Toronto, they lived in the Vanderhoof/ Fraser Lake area of BC until 2003. They moved to Colonsay, SK where she spent the remainder of her life.
Joan was very active in ministry throughout her life. While serving with Village Missions, she was involved in leading Pioneer Girls and youth group for their church. She was a pastor’s wife for 9 years and was involved in organizing various women’s groups.
Joan enjoyed the gift of hospitality. Very rarely was there a Sunday afternoon with no company in the house. Many people remember her famous homemade buns and the fellowship and laughter around the table. Friends and family alike always felt at ease in her home.
Joan loved her kids and grandkids and would often be heard talking proudly about what they were doing with their lives. Joan enjoyed giving gifts to her loved ones. Even to the end of her life she was heard talking about giving her kids and grandkids special things from her life to keep in the family.
Joan was loved unconditionally by her husband Johnny. Throughout her life Joan struggled with health issues, in the last few years, Johnny was by her side night and day to tend to her needs.
Joan went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 17th, 2016. She was 77 years old. Even though the ones left behind will miss her greatly, we know she is perfect in Heaven. We love you Joan, Mom, grandma and we will miss you. Until we meet again…
