Arnold (Arnie) John Willems of Saskatoon, SK, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, May 7th, 2017. He was born in City Hospital on August 19th, 1937, to David and Agatha (Buhler) Willems. He grew up on a family farm northwest of Dalmeny, Saskatchewan He attended Mountain Lake School and Dalmeny High School, after which he attended Bethany Bible School for one year. During his high school years he worked in the grocery store for Mr. Berquist, and again for two years after Bible school. For the next seven years he worked for Marshall Wells and when they closed the business here he obtained a job at Federated Co-op, where he retired from after 35 years.
His love for singing was evident in his early years and continued until he became ill. For many years he sang in octets, quartettes and for twenty-five years he sang in the Saskatoon Men’s Chorus. He played on ball teams in his younger years, and later on he enjoyed golfing. In his more recent years, he thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their sporting events, dancing and modeling.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of almost fifty-one years, Kay, his son Murray (Carla) Willems, his daughter Sharlene Tetrault, granddaughter Amanda Tetrault, grandsons Michael Tetrault, Matthew and Thomas Noble, his sister Clara (Roy) Martin. He also leaves nieces, nephews and cousins; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, parents and his brother Wesley.
The Funeral Service will be held at the Forest Grove Community Church, 502 Webster Street, Saskatoon, on Saturday, May 13th, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. Viewing will be held on Friday, May 12th at 7:00 P.M. at Forest Grove Community Church.
