It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Anne Loewen who was born on June 13, 1927 in Dalmeny, Saskatchewan to Aron and Katherine Wall. She married Jacob P. Loewen in Saskatoon in June of 1953 and worked alongside her husband on the family farm northeast of Dalmeny for the next 20 years. Anne and Jake literally met each other across the fence on what became their farm. Prior to being married, Anne had worked at the sanatorium in Saskatoon in the early 1950’s. She also did some light housekeeping for various clients in Saskatoon following their move off the farm into the city in 1973.
Anne never loved the lime light but treasured her faith in The Lord Jesus Christ, as well as, family, friends and farm. She leaves to mourn her daughter Ginny (Virginia) and husband John McPhee of Saskatoon, and son Richard and Elaine Loewen of Nelson, BC as well as grandsons Kenneth Loewen of Nelson, BC, and Matthew Loewen and his family of Coquitlam, BC, brother Frank Wall of Los Angeles, California and sister Helen Wiebe of Campbell River, BC and many nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and other relatives along with friends from the condo unit, the Luther Heights Care Home and members of First Mennonite Church.
Mom passed away in the early morning of Sunday, October 9th at St. Paul’s Hospital almost four years after her husband Jake passed away in December of 2012. We would like to thank the physicians and nursing staff of St. Paul’s Hospital for their tender and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Mennonite Central Committee 600 45th St. West Saskatoon, SK S7L5W9. The Dalmeny Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements (306-254-2022).
